An American-made story!
The Eclipse history began sometime in the mid 1890′s when brothers Sam and Max Weisglass emigrated from Ugrin (a small town on the outskirts of Chortkiv, Ukraine) to New York City. Spring makers by trade, Sam and Max brought a tradition steeped in fine quality and craftsmanship to the new world.
Located in Brooklyn, New York, the brothers began with the opening of the Weisglass Spring Company. Through hard work and dedication to their craft the company grew and evolved. And, in 1903, Sam and Max started the U.S. Cabinet and Bed Company. Although new to the mattress manufacturing business, the principles that grew their spring company translated seamlessly to their new endeavor. Within two years the company had taken on a new identity, and what is now one of the oldest names in the bedding industry came into existence.
In 1905, a time when Teddy Roosevelt was president and Einstein opened the door to quantum physics, Eclipse Sleep Products was founded. Like many of the family companies that made up the backbone of our country’s economy, Eclipse Sleep Products experienced tremendous growth during this era. Eclipse Sleep Products eventually grew to become one of the largest bedding companies on the United States eastern seaboard.
As times have changed, so has Eclipse. With a foundation still set in its original principles of quality and craftsmanship, Eclipse now combines the bedding technologies of tomorrow with the old world traditions of its founding fathers. What was started from the hard work of two immigrant brothers in Brooklyn, New York, Eclipse mattresses can now be found all over the world.
